Large ‘Wesley’ Hooker III is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision
of Dana A. Burns, M.A., LPC-S. He is passionate about supporting individuals in the process of
growth toward becoming their best selves. He earned a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health
Counseling from the University of St. Thomas. There he gained the skills that enhance his
ability to encourage and promote the overall well-being of clients from all demographics by
creating a welcoming environment and building strong relationships.
During his university cohort Large received the “Captain Calm” award. His emphasis is on
being open to all clients no matter their presenting concerns or past. As a counseling approach,
he combines Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), Reality/Choice Therapy, and Cognitive
Behavior Therapy (CBT) to support clients in creating meaningful change. Through the
combination of these three approaches, Large seeks to help clients build mindfulness and
emotional regulation, take responsibility for their choices, and reframe unhealthy thoughts and
behaviors in order to meet their personalized goals.
In his free time Mr. Hooker enjoys working out, running, listening to music, and exploring
Houston with friends and family. He is continuously growing his passion for music through his
record collection and hopes to move onto musical instruments.
